SEMINARS/MEETINGS

The Quality Enhancement Cell has conducted the following seminars and meetings for the awareness of faculty and administration:

• A seminar was conducted on February 7, 2007 which was attended by the Heads of Departments and faculty members. During the seminar, ranking proformae for the years 2004-05 and 2005-06 were discussed.
   

• A presentation was given by QEC on May 14, 2007 to the Vice Chancellor, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Registrar to make them aware of university's position in ranking and research as compared to other engineering institutions such as PIEAS, NUST, GIKI, UET Lahore, and UET Taxila.
   

• Another seminar of the same nature was conducted on June 7, 2007 by QEC for the Heads of Departments and senior faculty members.
   

• A seminar was conducted by QEC on June 21, 2007 in which Professor Taimur Khan, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, University of Peshawar, discussed HEC Self-Assessment Procedure. The seminar was attended by the Dean Faculty of Engineering, Heads of Departments, and members of Program Teams.
   

• A presentation was organized by QEC on November 16, 2007 in which HEC Self-Assessment Procedure was explained. The Department of Mining Engineering was chosen as model department to illustrate and analyze feedback received through HEC Self-Assessment Proformae. The presentation was attended by the Dean Faculty of Engineering, Heads of Departments, Coordinators of Satellite Campuses and members of Program Teams.




• A workshop on Self-Assessment Procedure was organized by QEC on April 28, 2008, for the members of administration and Program Teams.




• A seminar on Student Grading Systems was organized by QEC on February 4, 2009, for the faculty members of all campuses of university. Satellite campuses participated through video conferencing.




• A seminar on Semester System was organized by QEC on October 5, 2009. The seminar was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Heads of Departments, faculty members and students.




• Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Director Quality Enhancement Cell, was the resource person for Self-Assessment Awareness Workshop organized by Hazara University on October 7, 2010.




• A seminar was organized by QEC on June 28, 2011, on QS Ranking of Universities for the focal persons of all departments.




• QEC organized a meeting on May 11, 2012, to review the results of recent ranking of universities by HEC. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor and was attended by the Dean Faculty of Engineering, Director Quality Enhancement Cell and all Heads of Departments. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the parameters of quality on which the ranking was based, review the strengths and areas of improvement of the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, and develop a plan to enhance quality by addressing the areas that need improvement. The participants took keen interest in the review of ranking process and data. After long deliberations, they came up with recommendations to improve the criteria of ranking and make the ranking more meaningful. It was decided to share the recommendations with HEC.




• A workshop on Self-Assessment Process was organized by QEC on June 1, 2012, for the members of Programs Teams of all campuses of the university.

• A seminar on Self-Assessment Process, Student Grading Systems and Plagiarism was organized by QEC on June 28, 2012, for the faculty members and staff of the university.

• A seminar on Self-Assessment Process was organized by QEC at Mardan Campus of the university on December 4, 2012, for the faculty members and staff.

• A seminar on Self Assessment Process was organized by QEC, University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, at Continuing Engineering Education Center (CEEC), Hayatabad, on December 27, 2012 for the faculty members and staff. The seminar was part of series of seminars and workshops organized by QEC to bring awareness to Self Assessment Process of HEC in regard to the quality of higher education.`
