Prof. Dr. K.M. Yahya graduated as an Electrical Engineer from UET Peshawar in 1982. He joined UET as a lecturer in 1983. He went abroad for higher studies in 1985. He completed his master in Computer Engineering in 1987 at the University of Missouri-Rolla, USA. Dr. Yahya obtained his Ph.D in Information Management Systems/Decision Support System in 1995 from the University of Missouri-Rolla, USA.
Currently, Dr. Yahya is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, UET Peshawar. He is also heading the Department of Computer System Engineering, which he founded as the Center for Computer Information Systems Engineering. He has helped shape the curricula both at the graduate and undergraduate levels to accommodate the high-pitched changes which are so characteristic of modern technology. He has been instrumental in fostering a progressive, academic and Research environment at UET. He has helped establish the Department of Telecom Engineering at Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, where he also headed the curriculum development committee at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Dr. Yahya has been a member of the UET’s statutory bodies, i.e. the Board of Studies and the Academic Council. Currently he is a member of the Syndicate. He has also served as a member of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).
Dr. Yahya has been associated professionally with various national and international organizations. He has served as Senior Computer Network Engineer at Mylee Digital Science Inc. and Revacomp Inc. St. Louis, Missouri USA. He has conducted graduate teaching assistants workshops at University of Missouri-Rolla, USA. He was selected to Alpha Iota Delta in the United States as a result of being recognized as highly skilled in decision sciences. Dr. Yahya has worked as Senior Program Advisor for the UNDP. He developed the concept of District Citizen Information Centers to help nurture transparent and accountable governance, informed decision making and planning. He was hired as a consultant by the Asian Development Bank for its FATA capacity building project.
He has authored and co-authored thirteen publications in journals of national and international repute.
